Hello,
As I begin today’s blog I would very much like to explain what SLO represents when I use it in my blogs; I apologize if there are any readers that may be upset with me for not having clarified this sooner. For those of us lucky enough to live on the central coast we are very aware that SLO is representative of San Luis Obispo; there are many of us that simply say SLO rather than articulate the city’s official name. Ok, now that we have straightened this out let’s get to business.

In my mind, this is an excellent question, but the answer is really up to you. It is essential for the consumer to do his/her homework before choosing their Astrologer or Reiki professional. Astrology has been around almost forever, but there are many people that call themselves Astrologers and have had no formal education and only minimal self study of a year or less. On the other hand, a Reiki professional is required to seek out some formal training before practicing; but it is usually limited to a weekend or less for each level; hardly an inspiring amount of training from which to make your decision.

I would like to write a few paragraphs (or more) about Karuna Reiki®, a type of Reiki that I have personally found tremendously powerful. There just isn’t as much information regarding this particular type of Reiki since it is still in its infancy compared to its parent Usui Reiki, founded in 1922. First, let me say that there are at least a dozen other branches of Reiki that are available: examples are Vajra Reiki, Wei Chi Tibetan Reiki, Usui Reiki, Usui Tibetan/ Reiki, to name just a few.

Hi All,
For those of you who are not familiar with Reiki (pronounced ray – key), and perhaps, even for those of you who are, there is an area in the abdomen called the Hara Center, a prolific energy center. This area of immense energy and transmutation is the location I seek when meditating, journeying, or simply daydreaming and reverie. Many who practice Reiki will recognize this location as The Seika Tanden, or simply as Tanden (pronounced tun – den) center. When using this area I imagine it approximately three inches below my Navel. It has also been described as an area about the size of a grapefruit located deep within the body.
Hara quite literally means “belly’ and is commonly used to refer to the lower part of the abdomen, or the area from the top (more…)

Hi All,
I was recently invited to attend a workshop that consists of what others might feel is out of the norm, or out of the box. Of course I do not feel this way but it certainly got me to thinking what it is that inspires me to attend “new” classes, events, or gatherings. It is not that I am a person that really enjoys socializing and meeting new people. I am very happy at my computer, with my clients, or playing music, all of which I do within my home or office.
There was a personal exchange that I had a few years ago with a person that is a friend and older than I. I had then recently finished my certification for Karuna Reiki and had asked my colleague if she might be interested in finding out more about this very specific modality. Hi All,
Well, I guess it has been some time since I sat at the keyboard and wrote a story or two. Lately though, I have been really busy with an array of fascinating interests that I ordinarily do not get the opportunity to challenge. There is a new Astrology group in town and it is called Central Coast Quantum Astrologers or CCQA. I founded this group with Barb Bjornsen, and we are all having a good amount of fun and study. The last Astrology group I founded was SLO (San Luis Obispo) Astrologers to which many of my new members are former members of SLO (San Luis Obispo) Astrologers.

Hi All,
Well, the weekend brought some terrific ideas at my latest Astrology workshop! I have not had a workshop for a while, and this last one proved to be the best one so far. No, there was not an overflow of attendees, I have had more participants in the past. What was exceptional was that there were Astrologers in attendance that had been dreaming my same dream, or I had been dreaming theirs. I recently wrote a blog on April 11 of this year titled “San Luis Obispo, Let’s Talk Astrology.” In this blog I challenged local Astrologers to shake the cobwebs of our communities and try to bring an Astrology conference to town.
I do not even recall who first broached the subject because I was having the workshop on “The Practice For Ethical Astrology.” However, it really does not matter anyway, because the ideas flowed simply and naturally. It was one of those moments (more…)
Hi All,
My path has been transforming (Scorpio Rising) of late, and I feel that it is a great adaptation from the direction I was previously moving. I still enjoy the direction of say 10 months ago, it is just that I have incorporated other standards of which I am only now beginning to understand. I still very much enjoy my Reiki practice and working as an Astrologer, but from those modalities come others. It is curious how our lives never seem to go in the direction we feel they must, but after some time and serious consideration we see what a benefit it was.
I have been studying and working with some very powerful and revealing energies. Certainly one might think that I should have been aware of these energies given what I already do professionally. However these energies are not as “simple” to understand (more…)
Hi All,
I realize that there is a tremendous amount of information on the “internets” regarding Reiki, however it seems that I still continue to hear the same question; “What can Reiki do for me?” This isn’t (or shouldn’t be) difficult to answer, and the simplicity of the question is equal in simplicity to the answer. Here in may lie the problem; how can something so simple be so affective. Depending upon the illness many of us will initially select a traditional medical doctor, or psychologist when in distress. What do you do when these do not work? At this point it is time to open your mind as well as your wallet because most insurance companies will not pay for non traditional therapies.
It will not hurt to call your insurance carrier and ask if they will cover a practitioner of Eastern Medicine or other Alternative modalities, but for the most part your insurance provider simply will not allow you this selection. There is a tremendous boom of (more…)

Hi All,
In San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Los Osos most everyone understands that the economy is, and has been floundering like fish in a drying lake bed for some time. People are trying to do without what many would consider luxuries. I agree for the most part that putting off on the purchase of a new car, a vacation, or even a new set of golf clubs is probably a wise choice to make right now. We are all concerned with where we are going, and where we will end up, however worrying will only add to the daily stress of life.
Living with stress only adds stress to one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. As so often the case is, many of my clients, when they come to see me, are already in an emotional crisis. There is a sense of defeat (more…)
Hi All,
My last Reiki clinic was well attended but the rain kept potential participants at home where it was warm, dry, and cozy on a cold winter’s night. It is always interesting to meet new people, and interact with those that you know at such a clinic. What I very much enjoy is the amount of Reiki energy that is manifested by the people that are in the room. Whether someone stays for a short time or stays the duration, the energy stays with them for the entire evening and into the next several days.
I feel that it is important for you to know that during these hectic times in our world that Reiki is an energy that will help you to relax and be better grounded. Reiki does not (more…)
