Imbalance Of The Fire Element

Hi All,

I will be posting a blog series on the four Elements (Air, Water, Fire, and Earth) found in the Astrological chart over the next several weeks.  Whether  there is an imbalance of too little or too much of any one Element or combination thereof is a consideration for not only the Astrologer but the client or beginning student of Astrology.  Imbalance of these Elements strongly suggest patterns of behaviors, and or physical and medical diagnosis in the individual.  This can also be said of an imbalance(s) of the Modalities (Cardinal, Mutable, and Fixed) but this will be for a later time.

In Astrology the Fire Element consists of three signs, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, their ruling planets Mars, the Sun, and Jupiter.  The houses that are ruled by these signs and planets are the first house (Aries), the fifth house (Leo), and the ninth house (Sagittarius).  Although it is not all that likely that one will find the sequence of the natural progression of the Zodiac (i.e. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer etc) beginning at the first house ruler ships still apply, and should always be considered when delineating and synthesizing an Astrological chart.

The Fire element is an energy that is excitable, passionate, and committed in its expression.  Carl Jung associated the Fire element with psychic energy, an energy that flows instinctively in an inspired and self motivating style.  The Fire signs tend to be too impatient and forceful particularly with people who have a dominance of  Water or Earth in their charts.  The Fire signs are often the adventurers and explorers often providing new discoveries and ideas.  Generally speaking Fire signs are more compatible with Air signs for these reasons.

Those that have too little emphasis in the Fire signs often lack fiery energy and thus have a weak digestive track.  This can leave the individuals feeling sluggish and under motivated with a lack of trust in living their life.   There is a lack of optimistic adventure and willingness to believe that all will work out for them.  Too little Fire often suggests a lack in confidence, enthusiasm and a tendency towards depression.  Exercise is a good antidote for those with too little Fire in their charts in conjunction with a good diet which will help the digestive tract.

Those with too much Fire in the chart often suggests an individual who “burns themselves out.”  Often, the person with too much of the Fire element does not see this as a problem until it is too late. Too much Fire can be overly active, restless, and way too concerned about “making things happen.”   If these individuals use drugs and or alcohol they will only fast forward the “burn out” syndrome at a considerably earlier age.  Because these individuals are self centered and impulsive relationships often suffer as a result.  There is no antidote for too much of the Fire element other than self awareness and helpful guidance from their peers.

If you are wondering what is considered “too much” or “too little” of the Fire element one needs to consider what the balance is with the other three elements.  For instance, if there are five planets in Fire signs, two in Air signs, two in Water signs, and one in Earth then there is an imbalance of too much Fire.  However, if you are paying attention you would have seen an imbalance with the Earth element (one), so there is an imbalance of Fire (too much) and Earth (too little).

Dreaming Is Your Right, and Your Destiny

Hello People,

I hope that your New Year is off to a roaring great start, if not I expect that it will soon begin for those of you that feel stuck or somehow alienated in your life experience.  For those of you unfamiliar with Astrology transiting Jupiter is leaving Pisces (nebulous, and dreamy) and moving across into Aries (action, accomplishment).  Right now Jupiter is at what Astrologers call the Aries Point or AP, 0 degrees any Action oriented Cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).  The AP is a theoretical point but no less important.

Transiting Jupiter is in every one’s Astrological chart whether you know this or not.  Everyone has an AP in their chart, (more…)

Jupiter As A Star and The Challenge of Belief

Hi All,

You must be wondering what I mean by suggesting that Jupiter may be, or may have been a star.  Well, please do not become confused by this because there is more to the picture than you may know.  Technically Jupiter falls under the classification of a star due to the fact that it radiates about twice as much heat, light, and radiation than it absorbs from the Sun.  Though I must tell you, Jupiter’s heat emanations come from an internal reservoir left over since its birth 4.6 billion years ago.  I find this interesting in light of the fact that Jupiter has been waltzing over the Aries Point, or AP (thrust of action) in the sign of Aries (Fire) for the last several months along with the planet Uranus, both in Direct and Retrograde motion.

This conjunction, or combination of Jupiter with Uranus at the AP strongly suggests that there is definitely a shift or challenge to religious, and spiritual beliefs.  Laws, whether they be social, international, cosmic, or universal, challenge is at the forefront.  As we have been seeing, there is (more…)

Parents, Their Children, and Astrology

Hi All,

Life is never short on drama, especially these days, and particularly in politics and sports.  I remember way back to the time when I coached youth soccer and basketball.  Fortunately for me the process of selecting the children for my teams allowed me the birth dates for each athlete.  Although I did not have the times for their births, I did have the fundamental information for some rather significant insight into the nature of the children on my teams.  Due to the small community I live in, I was also aware of the parent’s birth dates as well, which allowed me to determine the Level of each family.

When I speak of Level, I am of course talking about the general background of each child as well as their family such as the parent’s education, financial, and religious perspectives.  The importance of this “Level” to (more…)

Holding Up Walls, Holding Up Relationships

Hi All,

In a recent workshop I held, there was a buzz of new things to come from many of my students in reaction to the Jupiter/Uranus Conjunction in Aries.  This is a reasonable expectation at first glance, but it does not hold up well to the Square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn (tension and transfiguration).  Jupiter (ruler of Sagittarius/9th house) in Conjunction to Uranus (ruler of Aquarius/11th house) implies great expectations, success, optimism and the big break.  However, in the sign of individualistic Aries the timing in matters of importance (Aries often only sees itself as important) requires preparation of plans, execution, and timing. Here is where much goes wrong…..or potentially goes wrong.

Jupiter is quite happy in the sign of Aries due to the lack of restraints, particularly when with Uranus; good times should be had by all with these two, at least this is how it might at first appear. On the other hand, Uranus has finally (more…)

Neptune Jupiter and the Winter Solstice

Hi All,

I hope that you have completed most of if not all your Christmas shopping, and can relax a few days before the big event……yeah sure you have!  Christmas shopping can become guerrilla war fare this late in the season and it’s each to his/her own, so good luck to you all.  There is however some great astrological news with the exact  conjunction of both Neptune and Jupiter in Aquarius, exactly on the Winter Solstice this Monday December 21.  The Solstice is @ 9:47 am PST, and the conjunction is @ 12:38 am PST, a tremendously fortuitous event for a tremendously telling time.

The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the earth’s axial tilt (the angle between the Earth’s rotational axis and the perpendicular to its orbital plane) is farthest from the Sun @ 23 degrees 21 minutes.  The Winter Solstice is (more…)
