My personal experience with Reiki has been one of evolution. When I first began studying Reiki I really didn’t have a point of reference other than what I had been told. Through the course of my learning I was given information that I certainly don’t agree with now, but this is what’s called a learning curve. Fortunately Reiki can do no harm regardless of your application or intent. Reiki is a fail safe modality, and when learned properly and through a good teacher there is a never ending journey of application and information.

Hi Folks,
When speaking of chakras I am referring to the contemporary model of the seven major or primary chakras used here in the West. There are of course other chakra models such as the Tantric, Hindu, Bon, Buddhist, and Qigong models to name a few. Then there is also the secondary chakra system which is more detailed, and too esoteric to cover here. However there are many different and complex systems and subsystems when speaking about or working with the chakras.
My interpretation of the primary chakra system is that of a subtle energy system that plays a vital role in our health and healing. It is the healing aspect that brings Reiki into (more…)

As many of us know disease starts with how we think, our mind, which then leads us to how we feel. The mind and our energy, or ki, is what causes changes in the wellness of our body. Application of perspective is a tremendous resource as to how we feel about our lives. When our perspective is positive it influences or generates genki (healthy energy, vitality), and when negative, byoki (cause of sickness) develops.

Reiki has fast become a rising and bright modality of healing for ourselves and for others. There are many a number of Reiki “branches” that claim the status of the original Reiki. I have read and heard that Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that has been around for centuries. My understanding is that the Reiki I know is relatively new (less than 100 years old), and was first brought to the attention of others by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900′s. This does not mean however that Reiki wasn’t known in a different form or name in the past.

For those of you who are not familiar with Reiki (pronounced ray – key), and perhaps, even for those of you who are, there is an area in the abdomen called the Hara Center, a prolific energy center. This area of immense energy and transmutation is the location I seek when meditating, journeying, or simply daydreaming and reverie. Many who practice Reiki will recognize this location as The Seika Tanden, or simply as Tanden (pronounced tun – den) center. When using this area I imagine it approximately three inches below my Navel. It has also been described as an area about the size of a grapefruit located deep within the body.

Well, I guess it has been some time since I sat at the keyboard and wrote a story or two. Lately though, I have been really busy with an array of fascinating interests that I ordinarily do not get the opportunity to challenge. There is a new Astrology group in town and it is called Central Coast Quantum Astrologers or CCQA. I founded this group with Barb Bjornsen, and we are all having a good amount of fun and study. The last Astrology group I founded was SLO (San Luis Obispo) Astrologers to which many of my new members are former members of SLO (San Luis Obispo) Astrologers.

Hi All,
I realize that there is a tremendous amount of information on the “internets” regarding Reiki, however it seems that I still continue to hear the same question; “What can Reiki do for me?” This isn’t (or shouldn’t be) difficult to answer, and the simplicity of the question is equal in simplicity to the answer. Here in may lie the problem; how can something so simple be so affective. Depending upon the illness many of us will initially select a traditional medical doctor, or psychologist when in distress. What do you do when these do not work? At this point it is time to open your mind as well as your wallet because most insurance companies will not pay for non traditional therapies.
It will not hurt to call your insurance carrier and ask if they will cover a practitioner of Eastern Medicine or other Alternative modalities, but for the most part your insurance provider simply will not allow you this selection. There is a tremendous boom of (more…)

Hi All,
In San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Los Osos most everyone understands that the economy is, and has been floundering like fish in a drying lake bed for some time. People are trying to do without what many would consider luxuries. I agree for the most part that putting off on the purchase of a new car, a vacation, or even a new set of golf clubs is probably a wise choice to make right now. We are all concerned with where we are going, and where we will end up, however worrying will only add to the daily stress of life.
Living with stress only adds stress to one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. As so often the case is, many of my clients, when they come to see me, are already in an emotional crisis. There is a sense of defeat (more…)
