Finding A Way In Through The Exit Of The Ego

Happy Holidays Everyone,

For many people the holiday season seems to offer a more special and specific time of  hope and realizing one’s dreams by way faith or fantasy, or both.  Although much of what we really want is not what we really need therein lies the problem and distinction between one’s ego and one’s higher self.  Many Shamans believe that the waking world is the same as the dreaming one, and that it is through this realization that they prepare themselves for their exit from the ego.  The practice of understanding that both worlds are dream worlds prepares the student of dreams for a better transitional experience.

Next month I will be giving a lecture about Dreams and Lucid Dreaming, how they affect our everyday lives and how we can prepare ourselves for multidimensional experiences and expressions. Author Robert Moss (more…)

From Which Lens Do You View Life?

Hi All,

Over time it has not been difficult to discern which people are the optimists, and which ones are the pessimists when it comes to how people look at life.  Of course it goes much deeper than this, there are the people who apparently seem overly serious, overly optimistic, too picky, or too relaxed just to give a few examples.  The list of potential categories are seemingly endless, but I think you get the point.  There are a multitude of perceptions, and I feel that it is important to examine why this is, at least Astrologically.

When a person is born they have a “blueprint” (Astrological chart) from which they base their sense of operations.  Whether it be temperament (Mars), (more…)

Hobos, Troubadours and The Way Home

Hi All,

As a young boy I was always intrigued by those lonely souls on the outside of town holding a sign or an outstretched thumb, carrying their life’s possessions in a duffel bag or ruck suck.  I was fascinated by the concept of simply going where one wants at any given time or place.  Of course it was not until much later did I understand that there was so much more to my fantasy of traveling with the circus, hitchhiking or jumping on to trains.  Indeed, there is a call to this particular life, and often it is not without a tragic story or emotional trauma.  There is also an Astrological signature to this lifestyle as well.

For those familiar with Astrology having a Uranus/Aquarius ruled Sun suggests the freedom intoxicated traveler.  Some of you might say that this sounds more like a Sagittarian (more…)

Someone Else Asks “Where Is Our Community?”

Hi Everyone,

In the past I have blogged about my thoughts on the importance of community, not for just a small specialized group of people, but for “all” people.  We have increasingly become isolated with our new technologies.  We can now simply open our computers or smart phones and “connect” with a friend, loved one, or someone we have never met before.  This can be done from the privacy of our home.  There was a time when the computer was at the office, then into the family room, and now it has been moved into the bedroom making us ever more comfortable, but also painfully withdrawn from human contact.

I recently read an article in a journal whose author brought to light the provocative yet simple loud and clear question of “Where is Our Community?” “Who is our Community”?  It is in the Journal of Shamanic Practice, volume 3, issue2, Fall 2010 by Tom Cowan, PhD.  The basis or premise is (more…)

Connecting With Community

Hi All, Over the last few years I have noticed (and this may just be me), that as human beings we are becoming increasingly isolated from not just our friends and acquaintances but also from family, and more (more…)

The Duality Of Spirit

Hi All,

I am sometimes asked by my students and clients what my perspective is regarding healing, journeying, and Astrology since I myself am in constant need of attention to both body and soul.  Often the question is “if you are in need of repair and forgiveness, how do you help others?”  The answer to this question is never easy, at least it is not for me.  I believe the key here is seeing through the eyes of what my intentions are, whether helping others, myself or simply watching nature move about me.

It is the duality of life on the material plane that often hinders and helps in making the correct or incorrect decisions.  Often we are seeing life through the eyes of a painful physical or emotional situation in life, and we forget (more…)

To What We Wait and Feel

Hi All,

Someone recently mentioned to me that in 15 years we would be 70 years of age to which I then thought to consider what I have learned as a man.  I am neither young or very old but at an age that demands a great deal of introspection.  This led me to recall that as a young man during the Vietnam war we were required to register for the draft or we would face certain consequences.  Consequences that would label a young man a coward if he refused to register, and those that complied, patriots.  Fortunately for me I didn’t draw a low draft number; but had I been drafted I surely would have gone.  Young men of 18 or 19 do not know any better, and this is why they go to war, this is why they are sent.

Fighting and war is a human condition and apparently inevitable, though deep inside I have a remaining hope that it doesn’t have to be so.  Our “enemies” are of the very same nature of which our troops consist, only now rather than (more…)

Fall; The Cycle of Death and Transformation

Hi All,

Well it seems only natural to discuss the topic of death and transformation on the first full day of fall.  When the trees are losing their leaves, plants and animals are withdrawing into the refuge of survival through silence.  It will not be long before winter is here leaving wet streets, icy windows, and the billowy breath of cold nights.  In the northern hemisphere nature is settling in for a protracted period of quiet, and scenes of loss, even death.  Oh yes, that horrible and nasty word, “death.”

Of course, as we get older it only makes sense to know that we will be visited by death and loss, either through friends and acquaintances to our own personal losses, through our families.  Whether it is a person or a pet that we loose the pain of death (more…)

Saturn’s Journey Through My 11th House

Hi All,

These last several years have been quite interesting for me as transiting Saturn has been traversing my natal 11th house, also known as one’s house of friends.  As most of you know I have a hand full of decades in life experience, and I feel fortunate to have survived the period of self doubt and self worth that we all must experience in order to grow.  This critical time of self doubt generally concludes after the high school or college years.  Although there are those that will experience these difficult emotions in these early stages, there are those that will continue to experience self doubt and the lack of clarity regarding all levels of relationships.

My experience regarding “friendship” over the last two or three years has been one of consolidation and determining the pertinence for said friendship(s).  First a little about myself Astrologically.  I have Scorpio Rising (more…)

The Energy To Move Through Time and Space

Hi All,

My path has been transforming (Scorpio Rising) of late, and I feel that it is a great adaptation from the direction I was previously moving.  I still enjoy the direction of say 10 months ago, it is just that I have incorporated other standards of which I am only now beginning to understand.  I still very much enjoy my Reiki practice and working as an Astrologer, but from those modalities come others.  It is curious how our lives never seem to go in the direction we feel they must, but after some time and serious consideration we see what a benefit it was.

I have been studying and working with some very powerful and revealing energies.  Certainly one might think that I should have been aware of these energies given what I already do professionally.  However these energies are not as “simple” to understand (more…)

The Psychodynamics Of Your Astrological Chart

Hi All,

For many people Astrology is simply a parlor game or side show to a carnival.  For others like myself Astrology is an invaluable tool for tapping into innumerable sources of information.  Information such as one’s emotional makeup, psychological manifestations, or the parental dynamics in which you were born into as well as familial traits going back generations.  The Progressed Astrological chart, or Solar Arc chart (one day equals a year calculation) can alert the Astrologer to potentially serious medical conditions such as a heart attack, cancer, depression and many, many more consequential life events.

Transits (the daily planetary motions) are equally telling when it comes to one’s experience and the events associated with life on this planet.  However transits are short lived when compared to Primary and Secondary Progressions.  There are charts (more…)

Astrological Markers For Incest and Sexual Abuse

Hi All,

In Astrology there are many clues, cues, and revelations to your life’s potential.  Your astrological chart holds the blueprint of not only your life but that of your parents, grandparents, and children.  As an Astrologer I am trained to examine all aspects of an individuals astrological chart.  For me, one of the more interesting facets within a person’s chart is the creative expression potential.  This may cover the artistic, athletic, or sexual articulations that are often, but not always anchored from the fifth house.  The fifth house is often referred to as the house of creative self expression (sex, sexuality, sex force, sex energy).

The fifth house is ruled by the Sun, and the sign of Leo in the natural progression of the zodiac.  Venus is often thought of as the planet of affection, and feminine attributes.  Venus also rules vulnerability along (more…)

Parents, Their Children, and Astrology

Hi All,

Life is never short on drama, especially these days, and particularly in politics and sports.  I remember way back to the time when I coached youth soccer and basketball.  Fortunately for me the process of selecting the children for my teams allowed me the birth dates for each athlete.  Although I did not have the times for their births, I did have the fundamental information for some rather significant insight into the nature of the children on my teams.  Due to the small community I live in, I was also aware of the parent’s birth dates as well, which allowed me to determine the Level of each family.

When I speak of Level, I am of course talking about the general background of each child as well as their family such as the parent’s education, financial, and religious perspectives.  The importance of this “Level” to (more…)

Being Open to Different

Hello People,

Through the years I have come to accept my fixed nature (nice way of saying stubborn) as an asset rather than a detriment to my perspective on life.  It hasn’t always been this way mind you, I have challenged the sanity of many, simply due to my obstinacy.  If there is something that is desirable or (more…)
