Astrological Markers For Incest and Sexual Abuse

In Astrology there are many clues, cues, and revelations to your life’s potential.  Your astrological chart holds the blueprint of not only your life but that of your parents, grandparents, and children.  As an Astrologer I am trained to examine all aspects of an individuals astrological chart.  For me, one of the more interesting facets within a person’s chart is the creative expression potential.  This may cover the artistic, athletic, or sexual articulations that are often, but not always anchored from the fifth house.  The fifth house is often referred to as the house of creative self expression (sex, sexuality, sex force, sex energy).

The fifth house is ruled by the Sun, and the sign of Leo in the natural progression of the zodiac.  Venus is often thought of as the planet of affection, and feminine attributes.  Venus also rules vulnerability along with its higher octave and associate, Neptune.  Of course these descriptors can be correlated to other planets or houses, but generally, these are the domains of Venus.  Sexual vulnerability is not just a one way street for females, her male counterpart is also subjected to the fears, and concerns of sexual abuse and assault.  Remember to keep in mind the age of the client/person before associating any potentials for abuse.

When reviewing an Astrological chart I have learned to look for what I believe to be the markers of a potential sexual assault or incest, and or participation within both the male and female charts.  There are any number of combinations for determining this potential, but for the female I examine the conditions of Venus/Saturn, Venus/Pluto, and Venus/Uranus midpoints along with their contacts to the Ascendant.  Note, there should also be the considerations for Progressions, Planetary Stations, and even Eclipses for the timing of such events.  However, many times there is a theme that strongly suggests the attraction for these types of occurrences. Markers for males are Mars/Saturn, Mars/Pluto and the contacts to the Mid Heaven.

To be more specific, I have found that the “hard” aspects of Saturn square Venus, Pluto opposite/square Venus, and Uranus conjunct Venus to all be red flags when found within a chart for the theme of sexual abuse. The fourth house and its condition are also reflective conduits for a difficult early home environment as well as a stressed third house, or third house ruler; add in a Scorpio Ascendant, Sun, or Moon and the Astrologer should be very wary.  Certainly there are other “qualifiers” that need to be found in the chart before considering these possibilities.  Just because one has Saturn square Venus does not mean that they have, or will be sexually abused or that they are sexually vulnerable.  Saturn retrograde will tell much about the father and the client’s experience with him.  This however should not be used alone as an indicator for sexual abuse.

Astrology should not be used just by itself for attempting to make these types of determinations.   There are psychological profiles and behaviors to assist in determining parent/child or sibling relationships.  However, if the trained Astrologer discerns the patterns or theme of incest or sexually vulnerable individual it needs to be considered and addressed at an appropriate time within the consultation.  Often, a client with these issues prefers not to discuss them, but at some point and with finesse’ the Astrologer can and should broach the topic.  Of course the Astrologer should have at least a year of training in these matters, and should have a referral list of other professionals such as psychologists, family doctors, and other therapists to recommend the client.

As I stated earlier, Astrology should not be used as the sole modality to make a determination of sexual abuse, but the astrological chart certainly can show the theme of sexual vulnerability.  Psychologists or psychiatrists are certainly better trained for this issue, but I have often found that some of my clients have not discussed this with other professionals, and the Astrologer is often the first person to hear this claim or insinuation.  If one does indeed encounter a client in this type of distress, and you are not trained or prepared to handle it, give it the necessary gravitas it deserves and refer them immediately to a professional who can.

  1. Hi Janet,

Thank you for another consideration when working with, or for, sexually abused clients/patients. There are many types of Astrological clues to this. Midpoints are another form of sleuthing for just this type of concern as well. I do not believe that there is just one way to make a determination for any one aspect of this behavior and consequence. Thanks again!

    Aho

Chiron squares to the Sun or Mars can also reflect possible incest or sexual abuse…
High percentage revealed in studies I’ve conducted with actual victims.
